FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

The first day of school went well. We kept is easy and fun. I started with explaining them the schedule. Bible, Phonics, Handwriting, Math. On Monday we will study a character trait from Home Life Ministries by doing one a week. Tuesday we will study Science. Wednesday they will have art class with Grammy. Thursday we will study History. Friday will be a free day, catch up day, or review day.

I had them color their notebook cover sheets that I printed for them. I was actually proud of these. It took several different picture put together and I added the font for them to color their name. I wish it was my original idea but it came from a homeschooling blog I read recently. I liked the idea! Now they know which binder belongs to them.

Little Mama enjoyed her sheets that I printed for her to copy the lines straight or zigzag. She did very well and was excited when she did it right!

Smiley occupied himself by sitting in my lap or pushing the stroller around. No fights, no potty accidents, etc. A good first day.

Here are their school pictures. When I was taking Peacock's picture Little Mama and Smiley walked over to join him. This is a rare moment especially for Smiley. Usually he is walking away and towards me whenI want to take a picture of him.

Also, I found great print outs for various homeschooling stuff. I printed a school calendar, Goals, Schedule (hopefully I will do a much better job with our track record of what we do each day and WRITING it down!) and Little Mama's sheets. Such a resourceful site!

Congrats on your first day of school! It must be both fun and challenging to coordinate such a feat! Wow!

Looks like the kids had a great time today! Maybe even excited about their new school books. =] Sounds like you have the year planned out pretty good. I remember my kids going the Clare's for Homech. However you spell that! Love the pictures.

I'm so proud of you and amazed! I'm not sure if I could ever do homeschooling...I don't think I'm that disciplined or patient.

I'm feeling pretty proud of myself when I have grocery shopping day with Ella. :-)

How old is Little Mama now?

Laura--

Oh dear, I am far from PATIENT or DISCIPLINED! I am trying to do better this year. I know you would be great at homeschooling with all your skills! You can do it!

Actually Elizabeth, I feel much more relaxed this year. Not sure if it is because I have one year under my belt or the curriculum. I was really stressed or overwhelmed with all we had to do in the BJU curriculum. Hopefully I will not mess my children up by putting our curriculum together. :)

What fun! Sounds like it was a success! We're not starting until mid-Septemeber because of our move, but I'm gleaning so many good ideas from you all! :)

Looks like fun! We use the same printables that little mama was using. Great writing practice.
