GREAT SMOKEY MOUNTAINS

Gramps, Daniel and Peacock went on a backpacking trip in the Great Smokey Mountains. They left early (5:30am) Friday morning. Hiked on the Appalachian trail from Clingman's Dome to a shelter. Forgot the name. It was 5.2miles. Peacock did exceptionally well! They cooked their dinner, slept on wooden bunk beds, and hiked back to Clingman's Dome on Saturday morning. They arrived home about 3:30pm. Did he ever love this trip! This was his second time in the Smokey Mountains, though the first time he was only 13 months old and HooDoo was in Mommy's belly! Dad took some really good pictures of their trip. Daniel is still sore from the hike but enjoyed the time with his Dad and his son. I am so thankful that Dad started this tradition with his own sons and can do it with his grandsons! What a gift. What a memory.

Joshua, I am so excited that you got to go hiking! You will have to tell me how to get to that cabin so we can go hiking there. Love you, Aunt Kimmy

What great FUN! One of my favorite things to do, hikeing. Except I probably carry something you might find silly...BearMace! I just never could imagine that I could grab 7 small children and run while beeing chased by a bear or mountain lion.
