MORE CAKE

My Mom wanted me to make a cake for her work Christmas party. I made the basketweave with poinsettias. I love the basketweave though very tedious and time consuming!

Then Saturday night was our Church Christmas Banquet that I made a Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Icing! What a trial!! I tried several red velvet recipes and they were bombs! The first was blah, the second was yuck, and the third was 1/4" thick! Crazy. I resorted to cheating and buying a cake mix Saturday morning. Actually Mom picked it up for me. THANKS!!!! Decorated the cake in an hour and took it to church by 4pm! ah, the cream cheese is softer than buttercream. It did not want to release when I stopped pressure, hence the pulling at the end of the leaves or flower! Overall, I think it is pretty. I wanted drop strings but that was not working. I like the simple look. Note: this picture was taken before I tapped the points down!

Wow, and here I've just figured out how to make icing. Thinking of asking for a basic cake decorating kit for Christmas. You basket weave looks amazing, and the poinsettas are beautiful.
